Jesus Christ suffered in place of each of us. He took the punishment due to us. The Bible teaches that, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). |
"God commands all men everywhere to repent
because He has appointed a day in which He will
judge the world in righteousness." 23
"UNLESS YOU REPENT, YOU SHALL PERISH." 24
To repent means "to turn around," like when you're walking in one direction, but turn around and walk in the opposite direction. In the past, you have lived for yourself. When you repent of your sins, you choose to no longer love yourself first and foremost, but God. You put God on His rightful throne in your heart, and you obey His commands, loving Him supremely, and loving others like you love yourself.
